Why did we stand out on the asphalt in the old
days? Look at this picture. Most drivers steered toward the center
of the track (see attachment) when they were in trouble. They didn't
want to get into the weeds. Remember, there were no guard rails in
those days. 'Course there were those drivers who didn't have any
fear, but you knew who those drivers were and you compensated for
them. Isn't that right, Tom West, John Ewald, and others? We had no
fear because we thought we knew the drivers and their cars. We were
DUMB. <g>
