Here's one with an interesting story behind it. Trussell Construction's Pro Mod '63 Corvette, with Ed Hoover behind the wheel, stormed to a runner-up finish at the NHRA's Sears Craftsman Nationals in June. Hoover also has won one of the four exhibition events this season, making him the man to beat at the final Pro Mod race of 2001 at the U.S. Nationals on Labor Day weekend.
Amid rumors about the class becoming a semi-regular eliminator on the NHRA schedule, it's interesting to note two former Pro Mod competitors, Scotty Cannon and Brad Jeter, watching intently from the starting line. Word is that both would be very interested in becoming involved in the class again if and when the NHRA makes such a move. To what degree remains a matter of speculation, but rest assured that this will be an interesting and exciting time for drag racing fans.
