The Missile was Missing in Pro
Stock

Here is a shot of Don Carlton's early
1970s Demon at the 1974 Summernationals. Don was running B/Altered
that weekend. He had a very fast and powerful car but was suffering
with the NHRA weight breaks for Vegas and Pintos. Due to the Mopar
boycott, Don was missing out on the Pro Stock action. He entered in
Comp instead. I think he went out pretty early. This was a very nice
car and a great example of Don's ability. It's really too bad that
he suffered fatal injuries in testing a few years later with an
altered wheelbase Dodge Colt. He would be a force to reckon with
today.
