Win This Art: Colson-Woods Gas
Dragster
By Jeff Teaford

Colson-Woods Gas Dragster, circa 1966. Racing art by Jeff Teaford
Another bare bones dragster from the good old days.
This is the Colson-Woods gasser, circa 1966. The first two things that caught my eye on this car were the relatively big top pulley and the simply fabricated scoop. The old school slicks are cool too.
If you have ever seen a drawn or painted picture of a race horse (the ones where the horse is just standing there looking pure bred) in a fancy restaurant or expensive book store...That was the effect I was shooting for. You know. A car built and bred for one single purpose. To win.
As per my usual recipe, I used colored pencil for most of the drawing, with ink and paint where it seemed necessary. Actual image size is 3"X11"ish. The front tires were turned and "abbreviated" after the first attempt looked really underinspired and busy.
So write and tell us why you're gonna' drop dead if you don't win this thing.
I definitely draw the cars I like. I hope you guys like them too. Most of all, I try to do justice to the people, the car and the times they represent. Let me know if I'm missing the mark here.
