The Maltese certainly have connected with the Top Methanol
Dragster division in the FIA European Drag Racing Championship with
four straight victories at Santa Pod over the past two seasons. John
Ellul and his Fontana powered rail is slightly ahead in the ET
stakes with a 5.76 and victory at the EuroFinals in 2000.
Manty Bugeja and the Shark/Mr. Whippy car are another 5.70 team from Malta.

But Manty Bugeja and the Shark Energy Drink/Mr. Whippy (team
owner Joe Carabott sells ice creams!) backed team are ahead in the
trophy race. They have wins in the Main Event in 2000 and 2001 and
the EuroFinals crown in 2001 and will be looking on improving their
5.77@245 mph best in 2002.
