you know ,you would have to do a total redesign on the 4stroke engine .For those who don't know the crank to cam ratio is 2 to 1 ,two crank rotations to one cam rotation .If you could do away with the valve train all together you still wouldn't be able to us the distributor for firing the engine because its designed for a 2 to 1 firing ratio .Say you could get ti on a 1 to 1 ratio with the crank with the valve train still attached you would see valve float at say 3000 instead of 6000 rpm .I don't think a cam could handle the stress of running double speed .
I have thought about this for some time ,along with a full ball bearing bottom end ,and mating 2 engines to work as one .
but it would be bad a$$
