a 455 in a mustang??? what was he thinking ?? it was a 460 that someone washed in hot water and it shrunk??? those 138 degree exhaust ports must have been a pain to work with. but then again it was designed that way to clear the frame rails of the cars ..

you know ,you would have to do a total redesign on the 4stroke engine .For those who don't know the crank to cam ratio is 2 to 1 ,two crank rotations to one cam rotation .If you could do away with the valve train all together you still wouldn't be able to us the distributor for firing the engine because its designed for a 2 to 1 firing ratio .Say you could get ti on a 1 to 1 ratio with the crank with the valve train still attached you would see valve float at say 3000 instead of 6000 rpm .I don't think a cam could handle the stress of running double speed .

I have thought about this for some time ,along with a full ball bearing bottom end ,and mating 2 engines to work as one .

but it would be bad a$$

Crank trigger / coil per cyl. ign.to eliminate the cam driven dist. and yer' ''good to go''.   :?:

its all about doing something different .Unfortunately ,people like smokey did all the fun stuff years ago .
Now we have more and more of our youth going to the rice burner way of life. It makes my chest hurt to hear a teenager talk of his buddy's Nissan as the fastest car in town.

aww come on guys we just got me weaned off the expresso's and montain dews and were gonna start this up again ?? I'll call dunkin donuts and have them deliver to me in the morning :? ..... actually the valve train can handle the speeds as you use lighter valves and use 2 of them to get more flow and less weight and you can make a reduction box to slow the speed down for the distributor ( done on some ag magnetos )
