Mallory? She was a little heavy as I remember...

Oh I wouldn't bet me getting together before you Bob - this thing has a way of prolonging every little thing it can

I talked to the engine shop yesterday to get more details on the crank. It turns out that I got the story backwards - my rods are heavier than the crank was set up for and they have to add weight to the crank. I couldn't figure out what they're waiting for - it's not like I'm gonna say "oh - hang on and let me get a lighter set of rods to make your job easier".

man...
I was getting stuff done, things were falling into place, looking forward to getting it out to the track in a few weeks, and....

I found out that my crank can't be balanced to my combo. My combo is apparantly heavier than what the crank was balanced for - which I can beleive because those BME fuel rods are some hefty looking things - and they need to add about 200g to the counter weight. Problem is - they can't add any more weight because the last balancer added a lot of weight in this nice little row of plugs, and there's no room to put a bigger plug in it. The crank will make a nice crank for someone with a lighter combination, but it's not going to work for me.

Since I've got a new set of BME rods, and a new set of Arias pistons, I'm pretty much set with the stroke that I've got. It's hard enough to find a 392 crank, let alone a 1/4" stroker (4.150 stroke). I think I may have to just bite the bullet and order a new crank. It'll be better to have all new stuff anyway I suppose. Unfortunately lead time on a crank is probably 2-3 months.

I'm going to start calling around this afternoon and see what I can find, but right now it looks like we're on hold for a bit.

Guess I'll be crewing on the rail for a few months...

Perry
