In 1954, this Denver Hot Rod Club was involved (along with the Denver Timing Association) in spearheading the first Drag Safari in 1955 and the building of Continental Divide Raceway which opened in 1959. The Strippers and the DTA promoted safe drag racing in the Denver area in the early and mid '50s. The DTA is still in existence as a philanthropic organization. I served as the secretary for a couple of years with the Strippers and was a charter member.

Mark Williams, Bill Rice, Junior Kaiser, and Johnny Abbott are but a few of the members of the now defunct Strippers of Denver. The '50s and '60s were fun times in Colorado. There were four drag strips in the Denver area in the late '60s and that's not including Bandimere, which opened in the late '60s.
