Here is a construction shot of the 55-foot giant FC float that rocked the
Rose Bowl parade.
Rose Parade Sponsor/Participant: Automobile Club of Southern California
Float Theme: A Century of Setting the Pace... The float is a replica of the
300-mph nitro-powered funny car of drag racer Gary Densham. The car body
lifts to reveal a pulsating engine and its huge rear tires rotate and smoke
as the car "peels out," and a 40,000 watt sound system provides
realistic funny car sounds as it speeds down the parade route. More than
1,500 Auto Club members and employees volunteered an excess of 6,000 hours
to decorate this float.
There was a documentary being shot when we were there about the building
of that float and others; it was seen on HGTV. Great to see some positive
coverage of Drag Racing seen by millions all over the world!
Happy New Year!
