Two Top Fuel drivers who have been part of this race for DECADES did especially well in 2001. Craig Smith won the event with consistent performances. Gary Omlin distinguished himself by taking his ancient car to new career bests -- by FIVE TENTHS! A super 5.63 in qualifying looks like it will advance Gary from 379th place up to around 230th on the Top Fuel All Time Quickest Drivers list!
