I'm in the process of putting together a group of old drag cars from
the 60's -- primarily gassers, altereds, and FEDs. Last year I got my
old '23 T A/SR out of mothballs and have been running it locally a bit.
Old guys and little kids seem to really enjoy it -- and so do I. It was
built in the ‘60s, painted in 1971, won A/SR at the IHRA All American
in 1976, and has been stored since 1983. In the old days, as a 5-lb.
car, it also could run A/G or B/A.
It
must have needed the rest, or possibly, the starting lines have gotten
better. It's been running 6.02 /115 eighth miles and it's still exciting
as ever to drive (or point). It has a 430" late Hemi, Hilborn,
B&M Clutchflite, Olds/Pont rear end. You may also notice the abject
fear in the eyes of the driver -- but can you imagine a way to have more
fun?
