IHRA Budds Creek: Janis Leads Pro Modified Qualifying

BUDDS CREEK, Md. - Mike Janis paced the Mopar Pro Modified field at the CARQUEST President's Cup Nationals, held at Maryland International Raceway in Budds Creek, Md. Janis' run reset the track records at 6.186 seconds and 229.70 mph, breaking the previous record of 6.227/225.82, held by Troy Critchley. Janis also currently leads the Pro Modified points battle.
Steve Stordeur, Goshen, Ohio, Doug Kirk, Lenore, W.Va., and Dale Brand, of Sully, Iowa, lead qualifying efforts in Screamin' Eagle Nitro Harley-Davidson, Sunoco Pro Stock, and Funny Car respectively.
Qualifying continues Saturday, at 1:30 p.m., with the final qualifying session scheduled to begin at 6:50 p.m. with the "Night of Fire."
