Just to add a little insight to the discussion of who had the first funny
car... This question has been asked many times before. If anyone has any
other info, I'd be interested in hearing about it. To clarify the definition
of "funny car," it's a tube chassis/ all glass body/ supercharged
engine. To the best of my knowledge, I built the first car that was known as
a "funny car." Attached is a picture of the car. I ran it for the
first time the third week of May 1965 at U.S. 30 Drag strip in Gary,
Indiana. The following weekend I ran at Gil Cohen's Detroit Dragway on
Saturday night & Toledo Dragway on Sunday. I have the timing slips.
