Bethesda Softworks Announces IHRA Drag Racing – Sportsman Edition
Next generation of drag racing comes to PlayStation®2 and Xbox
May 10, 2005 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks® announced today it will publish IHRA Drag Racing – Sportsman Edition (IHRA Sportsman) for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PC this fall. IHRA Sportsman marks a new direction for the popular IHRA series with its new racing rule set and gameplay that have been completely redesigned from the ground up to simulate the thrill and excitement of Sportsman class races.
Utilizing the IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) license to its full potential, IHRA Sportsman utilizes the Official IHRA Bracket Racing rule set of the Sportsman Series - featuring Top Sportsman and Top Dragster car classes. Using NDL’s Gamebryo™ graphics engine to render the tracks and cars in stunning detail, IHRA Sportsman will feature broadcast style race presentation with TV-style camera fly-bys to fully immerse the user in the on-track and trackside environment.

Designed to appeal to the casual racer along with the drag racing enthusiast, the game will offer a quick play Arcade mode along with a detailed simulation mode that allows you to experience the excitement and challenge of the IHRA Sportsman 12-event season. Players will earn money, buy and unlock new higher quality parts and cars as they progress towards the IHRA Sportsman Championship.
You can fully customize 60 accurate and detailed vehicles in the garage and paint shop and race on 22 different tracks, including 11 official IHRA tracks and 11 original, Fantasy-style tracks. There are tons of features to unlock, including parts, trophies, and a second full season, to ensure endless hours of gameplay.
