In 1961 George Ray followed his dream. He bought a bean field near his home in Paragould AR and built a drag strip. He ran the racing heads up-no handicaps, his security was himself and the pistol on his hip. He developed his own rule book. The track was a huge success, big fields of racer every week.
While George passed in 2009, the track lives on.
Darrell Dickson came from a family that raced at George Ray’s Wildcat Drag Strip. When Darrel’s father was killed, George became the young man’s mentor.
Darrell has written a book about George and the track.
Paperback, 152 pages and full of great photos.
