Australian Pro Stock gun, Shane Tucker, has made the tough decision to quit racing the bracket that has seen him become one of the sport’s most recognised and promotable faces.
After graduating from drag racing’s entry-level Junior Dragster category, Tucker went on to race a number of Pro Stock cars under the Rob Tucker Racing banner, culminating in a dominant performance at the recent Fuchs Winternationals in the Monster Energy GXP.
“It’s one of the hardest things I have ever had to do,” explained Tucker.
“It brings a tear to my eye, but I have had eight great years racing Pro Stock and we have had some great memories and have achieved some great things.”
Given Tucker’s good looks and natural ability, he has been one of the best-supported drivers in drag racing from corporate Australia.
“It sounds like a cliché but I really want to thank all my sponsors past and present. I can’t say enough about my team and the success we have enjoyed together, I just think its time to take a break.”
Not only was the 2013 Winternationals a great event for the team in terms of performances, it was also the first and perhaps last time that father Rob, sister Kirsten and Shane all raced at the one event in one bracket.
Tucker concluded, “Mum and Dad, you guys seriously have given me every possible opportunity to succeed and words cannot express what it means to me!
“Kirsten, you are a natural and I’m sure you will enjoy many years of success as I have racing for our family!
“To all my fans and supporters thank you from the bottom of my heart. Nothing relaxed me more than taking the time to meet and sign posters and merchandise for you all no matter how hectic it was!
“But hey, everyone makes a comeback don’t they? I figure that at least if I quit early maybe I won’t be too old on my return?"
Rob Tucker Racing has committed to fulfilling all current 2013 sponsorship agreements and the team are looking forward to continuing their relationships as they move forward into new and exciting endeavours.
