After beginning its fifth season at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX, in late April, the Mickey Thompson Tires DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenge will return to action on July 19-21 at Cedar Falls Raceway in Janesville, Iowa. It is the second race on the seven-event 2013 schedule.
Kennedale was the only time the series was contested on the eighth mile rather than the usual quarter mile. Defending Series Champion John Hale ran a stellar 3.746 at 200.50 mph to defeat Ronny Young, who ran a respectable 3.940/191.10 in the final.
Last year at Cedar Falls Hale, driving the Mike Burkhart tribute Camaro, battled Anthony Bronge in the “Punisher” Camaro. Bronge, from Marengo, IL, was first off the starting line, but both cars had trouble getting traction and the ensuing “pedalfest” brought cheers from the fans as the drivers fought for control of their racecars down the quarter mile. Hale, from Dallas, TX, was able to recover and get to the finish line first for the win.
Bronge is certain to be trying for a different outcome this year.

Other dates for the Mickey Thompson Tires DragRacingOnline.com AA/FC Challenge presented by Comp Cams are: Aug. 2-3 at Reading, PA; Aug. 23-24 at Cordova, IL; Sept. 6-7 at Martin, MI; Sept. 13-14 at Tulsa, OK; and Oct. 4-5 at San Antonio, TX.
