EMMR Spring Open House on April 5-6

YORK SPRINGS, PA – The Glory Days of drag racing will be on display at the Spring Open House of the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing on Saturday, April 5th and Sunday, April 6th.

The Saturday drag racing program will feature a dedication of new display areas for two Pennsylvania Legends Of Drag Racing, the late Dave Strickler of York and the late Bud Faubel of Chambersburg at ceremonies starting at 11 a.m. Barbara Faubel and the family of the late Dave Strickler will be in attendance to open activities for a day of memories with a View From The Tower orchestrated by George Nye, former announcer at York US 30 Dragway, Bob Frey former NHRA TV and radio personality, Frankie Burke former Maple Grove Dragway voice and Jim Senkewitz the former voice of Pittsburgh International Raceway.

A combined program Back In The Day will also be presented by Larry “Doggie” Sweigart due to a previous weather cancellation. Acitivities for both presentations will begin at 1 p.m. until …

The museum will sport a new look in the drag racing department with a new display on the former York US 30 Dragway, in addition to, the Strickler and Faubel displays. The twin engine flathead dragster of Stanley Shoppel of Mechanicsburg will be one of the new group of drag vehicles on display for the 2014 season.

The Sunday program will honor sprint car driver Keith Kauffman.

Everyone is welcome with doors opening at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with dedications commencing at 11 a.m. Noontime lunch and social hour with the round tables on drag racing at 1 p.m. and ending approximately 3 p.m.
