FEATURES QUARTER MILE PRO MOD ACTION
(01-20-2015) Lighthouse Point, FL – The staff at SHRA (Southern Hot Rod Association) and OSW (Orlando Speed World) are proud to announce the “SOUTHERN HOT ROD NATIONALS” Inaugural “Southern Thunder I” Drag Race at the famed Orlando Speed World Dragway February 7th and 8th. Top notch drag racing & huge crowds have been the trademark of this spectacular track, and SHRA and OSW expect this event to continue for years to come. With thousands of die-hard drag racing fans expected in attendance along with the world’s greatest Pro Mod drag racing teams, this event can become the top independent drag race of the year.
The event is the brainchild of SHRA Founder Steve Coccaro and Ozzy Moya. There was an available date for an event at Orlando Speed World and Ozzy contacted Steve. The decision was to have a ¼ Pro Mod event along with Outlaw 632 Presented by Induction Solutions, Ultra Street Presented by TRZ Motorsports, 275 vs. 28×10.5 and Open Comp, 8.50, 10.00 and 11.0 Index racing. With only 2 months to prepare, Mike Fabian, Carl Robinson, along with Vito Micciolo went to work and quickly went into action securing sponsors, preparing flyers and marketing. The feature Class, Quarter Mile Pro Mod Presented by Stewart Performance Products Inc. with $4k to win, will have many diverse car styles and teams from all over the country. These wild door cars will torch the ¼ at times of 5.90’s and MPH of 240+++. SHRA also added a free test session for any 1/8 Mile Pro Mods who want to test throughout the event, so there will be plenty of action throughout the weekend. Bring the family and friends February 7th and 8th and see awesome side by side Drag Racing action. Pits are always a welcomed place to all our doorslammer friends, so come meet the drivers and teams; be a part of “Southern Thunder I” event action.
As always Wade Rich says he will prep the track for “Maximum Traction”. 5.90’s might not be out of the question, and with the growth of the event comes more competitors and greater competition.
The schedule for the Southern Hot Rod Nationals “Southern Thunder I” February 7th and 8th is as follows:
Gates open 8:00 am each day.
Friday: February 6th Testing 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Contact OSW for rates)
Saturday: February 7th All Classes Qualifying
Sunday: February 8th Eliminations start at 10:00 am
