2015 YORK LEGION OF HONOR NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

YORK, PA – The National Nostalgia Drag Racing Association has been presenting the annual Legion of Honor awards since 2004 to many of the Pioneers of Drag Racing as esteemed recognition for their many contributions to the sport and industry.

The awards are presented at the annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion show presented at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on the second full weekend of July each year. The induction ceremony is held on Friday evening at 6 p.m. Every award presented is in recognition of the significant impact that each recipient has had on their performance heritage.

Each individual is presented an individual award and their name is placed upon a perpetual award that Is on display at the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing located one mile north of York Springs, Pennsylvania just off Route 15. The perpetual award will be on display in perpetuity.

The nominees for the 2015 Legion of Honor Awards include Bobby Warren, Clinton, North Carolina; Jim Zakia, Niagara Falls, New York; Jerry Stinner, Bridgewater, New Jersey; induction of the late Stanley Shoppel, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; David R. “Dutch” Irrgang, Livingston, Texas; Jim Boburka, Coraopolis, Pennsylvania; Fred Zipp, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; the late Scott Weney, Spring City, Pennsylvania; Michael “Mashie” Mihalko, Myerstown, Pennsylvania; Tom Kling, Lakewood, New Jersey; Scott Reider, Reading, Pennsylvania and Arlen Fadely, Flat Rock, Michigan.

The distinguished group contributed in varying degrees of involvement, some as race car drivers, as officials, industry reps, engine specialists, crew members, manufacturers, or development of specialized racing products with dedication far beyond the call of duty. The NNDRA presents these awards each year symbolic of a Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, July 10th.
