YORK 2015: TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME

YORK, PA – The greatest days of drag racing are relived the second full weekend of July at the 14th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion which will be presented on July 10-11th at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds, York, PA.

The annual two day event presents the largest group of Legends of Drag Racing to be assembled at one time each year and the 14th annual event will be no exception with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Super Stock Nationals which was held at York US 30 Dragway on Saturday, August 7, 1965. The event has come to be known as the “Woodstock of Drag Racing” and was the largest one day drag race to ever be presented.

The Golden Commandos of Detroit, Michigan will be appearing for the first time at the event and will be participating in a special roundtable open discussion of Saturday, July 11th with a group of Legends of Drag Racing which will include participants with this “world famous” event. Wally Bell, Larry Lombardo, George Weiler, Bruce Larson, Arlen Fadely, Jon Lundberg, and Bob Harrop “the winner” to name a few who will be on hand to share in the historic moments recalled.

A second annual Junior Stock Reunion will be presented with Tom Ordway of Granada Hills, California flat towing his ’57 Chevrolet all the way to York. The Jesel Brothers, Wayne and Danny will be returning with their Yoo Hoo II ’56 Chevrolet sedan delivery and all will be welcomed by Bobby Warren, International Drag Racing Hall of Fame member from Clinton, North Carolina.

The annual York event supports the York County SPCA and the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs each year. Special booths are prominent at the show for display of adoptable pets and items of interest for sale by both organizations. Legion of Honor awards presentations will be featured on Friday at 6 p.m. when twelve deserving recipients will receive individual awards for their contributions to the drag racing industry over the years.

Each recipient receives an individual award, and a photo award in their honor which is symbolic of a Hall of Fame award. Their names are placed upon a perpetual award on display in the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs in perpetuity.
