YORK, PA – The team of Tritak and Morgan will be inducted into the Legion of Honor at the final and 14th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on July 10th at 6 p.m. Pete Tritak of Clifton, New Jersey and Bill Morgan (posthumously) will join the elite group of many Division One racers and drag racing community leaders who have previously been inducted into the Legion of Honor which symbolizes a Hall of Fame appointment.
The York event has been an annual reunion for the former York US30 Dragway at the York Airport in Thomasville. A visit is planned to the former site as a farewell gesture to the track that was the innovator of countless new programs to the national drag racing scene in its day. The track closed in 1979 at the conclusion of the season. An annual pilgrimage to the York Reunion has transpired for fourteen consecutive years. The current promoter will be retiring at the conclusion of this final presentation.
The York Reunion has been known nationally for attracting the largest turnout of Legends of Drag Racing each year to assemble at one event at one time. This year’s legends will include Arlen Fadely, Larry Lombardo, Wally Bell, “Ohio George” Montgomery, Jim Wemett, George Weiler, Ed Hedrick, “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter” Linda Vaughn, Dutch Irrgang, Jim Boburka, Jim Zakia, Bobby Warren, Fred Zipp and the list goes on.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the York County SPCA and the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. A special auction is held at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11th for the benefit of both organizations.
The event runs Friday, July 10th from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 11th from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Active military are free with proper i.d., children 12 and under free, and free parking.
General admission is still $15.
Sunday activities turn to Beaver Springs Dragway for the final running of the York Nostalgia Nationals with the action beginning at 8 a.m. Future presentations for the Legion of Honor will revert to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing beginning in 2016.
