Current IHRA Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series Points: New Leaders In Crower Pro Mod And AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car Classes

NORWALK, OHIO (August 10, 2015) – There are two new leaders in the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series point standings after last weekend’s completion of the President’s Cup Fueled by Sunoco and Northern Nationals presented by Aeromotive at US 131 Motorsports Park.

Jason Rupert took over the top spot in the AMSOIL Nitro Car Funny Car presented by Aeromotive class following last weekend’s Northern Nationals and leads by 67 points over Mike McIntire Jr. The reigning champion has four wins so far this season. In the Crower Pro Mod class, Dina Parise took over the points lead and she has a 52 point lead over Bill Lutz. Her runner-up finish in Martin, Michigan catapulted her in the standings.

In Pro Stock, Nitro Harley and Jet Dragster the leaders remain the same. John Montecalvo continues to lead the Pro Stock class but his lead has been cut down to 34 points over Cary Goforth. Jay Turner extended his lead in Nitro Harley’s and has an 81 point cushion over Randal Andras. Finally, Elaine Larsen is defending her 2014 Jet Dragster championship as she sits in the number one spot over Kat Moller, who is trailing by 36 points.

The event marked the ninth on the schedule with only three more Nitro Jam dates remaining on the 2015 schedule. The next event is the rescheduled Mopar Nationals presented by Williams Racing at Grand Bend Motorplex on August 15 – 16.
