GLENDORA, Calif. – Only one spot remains available in each of the NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout fields for Top Fuel and Funny Car. Those two positions will be determined in the next 10 days by NHRA fan votes and a pair of lottery-style drawings.
Six drivers in Top Fuel and seven drivers in Funny Car are eligible for the fan-vote/lottery positions in each class. Fan voting on NHRA’s Facebook page is now open and will remain open until noon (ET) on Tuesday, Sept. 1. You can vote for your favorite eligible driver in each category by clicking this link: http://www.nhra.com/FanHub/.
The fan-voting process will determine the number of lottery balls that each eligible driver will be assigned during the Traxxas Shootout lottery drawings. The Traxxas Shootout lottery drawings will be conducted during a press conference for the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. The Traxxas Nitro Shootout will be contested during the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, Sept. 2-7, at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
The winners of the fan vote and lottery-style drawings will earn the opportunity to meet the Traxxas Nitro Shootout top seeds in the opening rounds of the special event.
The six Top Fuel drivers who are eligible for the eighth position in the fan vote/lottery are Dave Connolly, Larry Dixon, Brittany Force, Terry McMillen, Clay Millican and J.R. Todd
The seven eligible Funny Car drivers are Alexis DeJoria, Courtney Force, John Hale, Chad Head, Cruz Pedregon, Tony Pedregon and Del Worsham.
Below are the drivers who have qualified for the Traxxas Nitro Shooutout and the first-round pairings for the lucrative bonus races that will award the winning drivers $100,000 each.

3. Richie Crampton vs. No. 6 Steve Torrence

TRAXXAS NITRO SHOOTOUT (FUNNY CAR)
1. Jack Beckman vs. No. 8 fan vote/lottery
2. Matt Hagan vs. No. 7 Robert Hight
3. Tommy Johnson Jr. vs. No. 6 Tim Wilkerson
4. John Force vs. No. 5 Ron Capps
The Traxxas Nitro Shootout for Top Fuel will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 5, with rounds at 4, 5:25, and 7:45 p.m. The Traxxas Nitro Shootout for Funny Car will be held Sunday, Sept. 6, with rounds at 12:30, 1:55, and 4:15 p.m.
The Traxxas Nitro Shootout will be featured in ESPN and ESPN2’s race coverage of the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals.
