MOSES, TAGLIARENI LEAD WINNERS IN ENGLISHTOWN

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. – Ken Moses and Robert Tagliareni led the list of winners at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series as the two racers won for the home state of New Jersey.

Moses defended his title from a year ago in the Magnaflux Top Dragster presented by Select Performance, taking the early lead on Luc Angers which proved to be the difference. Moses, Colonia, N.J., clocked in at 6.779 seconds at 194.63 mph to Angers, Laval, Quebec, 6.824, 193.96. The win was Moses’ seventh in the series.

Tagliareni, out of Oakland, N.J., was better at both ends of the track in picking up his first NHRA Wally trophy in the Magnaflux Top Sportsman presented Select Performance. His ‘10 GXP covered the quarter-mile in 7.274 seconds, 189.73 mph to the quicker Tom Simone who raced to a 6.747, 210.57 in his losing effort.

In Comp Eliminator it was Arnie Martel grabbing his third win of the year with a lap of 7.594, 175.16 over Don Eckel III. Eckel was out first but Martel had the power at the top end for the win. Martel, Tewksbury, Mass., won in Rockingham, N.C., and Belle Rose, La., earlier this year.

Don Belles, Schwenksville, Pa., and Jim Boudreau, Tewksbury, Mass., won in Super Stock and Stock respectively. Belles, running a ‘08 Cobra Jet, won in a double breakout with Marty Rinehart, Thomasville, Pa. The win was Belles’ second clocking in at 8.643, 153.95 mph.
