GLENDORA, Calif. – The NHRA Pacific Division National Open Series heads to one of the newest NHRA Member Tracks, Tucson Dragway for their season opener, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, February 19-21. Tucson Dragway rejoined the National Hot Rod Association this year after a short absence, bringing NHRA Drag Racing action back to the Tucson, Ariz., area. The facility is located off Interstate 10 on the Pima County Fair Grounds.
The event will feature a variety of classes including Top Comp (Top Dragster/Top Sportsman Combo), Stock/Super Stock Combo, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, several Summit Racing Series bracket classes and two NHRA Summit Jr. Drag Racing League classes.
The track will host a Test & Tune on Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Qualifying and Time Trials begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. and continue on Sunday at 9 a.m. Eliminations will follow at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The Summit Jr. Drag Racing League competitors will make time trials on Saturday morning with eliminations scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
The event is one of four with drivers vying for the famed NHRA Wally trophy. Following this weekend’s event, the series will make stops at Sacramento Raceway in April, Top Gun Raceway in early June and Auto Club Dragway at Auto Club Speedway the end of June.
