STrong>Pepsi Nightfire Nationals set for August 11-14

The 45th edition of the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals returns August 11-14 to Firebird Raceway. The “signature event” of the western Idaho facility will mark a key stop in the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series for both AA/Funny Car and AA/Fuel Dragster. Currently, both Adam Sorokin (Top Fuel) and Kris Krabill (Funny Car) lead the standings heading into the Nightfire weekend.

The Nightfire event is rich in history. Former champions have included the likes of John Force, Don Prudhomme, Ed McCulloch, Raymond Beadle and many others. Defending Nightfire champions include Tony Bartone in Fuel Dragster, Kris Krabill in Funny Car, and Jeremy Sullivan in Fuel Altered

In addition to racers competing in the nitro ranks, Firebird will play host to the oldest bracket tournament in North America, an event coined the Bracketeers back in 1976. It is the richest sportsman event of the season at Firebird with racing in Bracketeer (Super Pro), Pro, Sled/Bike, Heavy and Sportsman, along with the Lucas Oil Top Fire open to the quickest 12 open wheel dragster and roadsters against the quickest 12 full-bodied rides.

In Pro eliminator, the payouts will include $2,000 to win on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and $3000 to the champion on Saturday.
