ATLANTA DRAGWAY TO HOST NHRA SOUTHEAST DIVISION SUMMIT RACING SERIES FINALS
COMMERCE, Ga. – The top bracket racers in NHRA’s Southeast division will be on hand at Atlanta Dragway, October 7-9, for the 2016 NHRA Summit Racing Series Southeast Division Finals. Racers in five categories from across the region will compete for individual and team honors and a share of the cash and contingency purse. Racing classes include Super Pro, Pro, Sportsman, Super Pro Motorcycle and High School.
Individual champions from the Summit Racing Series will advance to the national championship at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. They will compete against the winners from NHRA’s other six divisions for national titles and a winner-take-all $5,000 payday. Racers who run in Pomona will receive an additional $3,000.
In addition to the Summit Division Finals, the event will also host the Summit Race of Champions for all classes as well as the NHRA Summit Jr. Drag Racing League Southeast Division Finals.
The team from Orlando Speed World Dragway from Orlando, Fl., took home the team title in 2015. Brandon Jarrell took home the championship in Super Pro. The Pro win went to Chad Brewer, and Bill Crutcher was the winner in the Sportsman class. Roy Koch outlasted his fellow Motorcycle competitors and Daniel Young took home the Race of Champions High School trophy.
Gates at Atlanta Dragway open at 7:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday at 8:30 am. Time trials will start Friday at 8:30 a.m. High School & Race of Champions Round 1 start at 6:30 p.m. Summit Series Division Championship round 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 9 a.m. and run throughout the day. The Summit Junior Race of Champions beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday gates open at 8:30 a.m. and Summit Junior Dragster division finals begin at 9:30 a.m.

SCHEDULE: FRIDAY, Oct. 7 — Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Time runs are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. High School & Race of Champions begin at 6:30 p.m.
SATURDAY, Oct. 8 — Gates open at 7:30 a.m. Division Championship round 1 at 9:00 a.m. Jr Dragster Race of Champions round 1 at 7 p.m.
SUNDAY, Oct. 9 – Gates open at 8:30 a.m. Eliminations for the Summit Junior Dragster Championships is at 9:30 a.m.

The winners in each category will advance to compete against winners from NHRA’s other six divisions at the Auto Club NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., in November. They will each receive $3,000 for advancing to the Finals and the winner in each class will receive an additional $5,000.
