The first round of the UK National Championships had seen a good weather forecast with a short shower only on the final day. At last all competitors had the opportunity to test and tune their new or improved cars and bikes in addition to the FIA Top Fuel and Nostalgia Funny Car Exhibition Shoot outs.
TOP FUEL SHOOT OUT
The Shoot Out between the Top Fuel Dragsters saw Liam Jones now in his third year of competition after licencing runs back in 2015. It was also great to welcome 2016 Top Fuel Champion Duncan Micallef from Malta with his dragster for 2017 sporting the TF 1 race number.
In their first clash, Duncan Micallef went up in smoke, shutting down to leave Liam Jones with a shutting down 6.693 second win. Liam later put in a commanding 4.808 second, 153 mph bye run.
NOSTALGIA FUEL FUNNY CAR
Qualifier details saw Tim Garlick take the win on a 6.149 second, 232 mph pass. He also ran a noteworthy 6.073 second, 218 mph pass on an earlier redlight pass.
JET CAR SHOOT OUT
Martin Hill took the Santa Pod Jet Dragster to an amazing lap in 4.547 seconds, 239 mph over a 1000-foot distance.
