With good weather only on the first day for the Sportsman classes despite the following day being a virtual rain off, the stalwart efforts the Santa Pod Team with continued track drying between the constant rain showers enabled the supportive spectators to see the Professional Teams get to the Semi Finals to conclude the Championship on points for the titles to be decided.

2. Anita Makela 4.24 sec, 227 mph

8. Stefan Gunnarsson 7.98 sec, 80 mph
The 2017 Top Qualifier at the Main Event Liam Jones who had posted a 3.97 sec / 301mph lap had problems with a faulty safety system that kept shutting him down and could only manage to get first Alternate Position on 14.47 sec / 27mph for failing to make the 8 Car Field.
The position for the Championship was close but the points leader was Duncan Micallef from Malta who had been setting the pace with many 3 second 300 mph laps and in the first round of eliminations took the win in 4.15 sec /303 mph over India Urbacher in her Father’s motor where she drove out of a sharp right turn to finish in 5.77 sec / 115 mph after an engine fire.
Mikael Kagered next put in a bye run on 8.16sec / 94 mph after Maja Udtian the 19 year old daughter of Paul Ingar Udtian from Norway who had to shut off after leak was spotted after her burn out.
Antti Horto had hole shot advantage that was then lost as he shut off following a massive shake in 20.92 sec / 11 mph with Stefan Gunnarsson taking the win in 7.37 sec / 66 mph despite his blower lifting.
Anita Makela took the win next in 4.40 sec / 187 mph over Stig Neergaard in the slower 6.94 sec /86 mph after crossing the centre line.
The Semis saw Duncan Micallef put in a 9.89 sec / 74 mph bye run after Gunnarsson failed to show following his blower damage.
Anita Makela suffered flames from her motor but took the win in 4.07 sec / 240 mph over Mikael Kagered’s slower 4.98 sec / 63 mph as his motor lost cylinders.
It was not long before the rain returned and closed the meeting but Duncan Micallef took the 2017 Top Fuel Championship on Points.
