Chicken Choker Chronicles – Charlotte 4 Wide Nationals

FIRST NATIONAL EVENT! MIDDLE OF THE FIELD! SO FAR SO GOOD!

Our first qualifying run equaled our best run that we had last week in Richmond, 5.70 at 256 MPH which qualified us in the top half of the field.

The next run resulted in the front end hiking up and not being able to steer and took out 2 rubber cones. We then added more ballast to the front end for the last qualifier and this time the tires went up in smoke off of the starting line. We got bumped a few spots to the middle of the field.

On Saturday we paired up with Dan Pompanio for 1st round of eliminations. Mike left on Dan with a .44 reaction time but ran into severe tire shake and had to lift letting Dan runaway with the race.

We then got everything serviced and ready for a short week as we are racing at our next National event in Atlanta this weekend.

We also had a celebrity stop by our pit area to choke the chicken. Al Segrini who was the original driver of the ATI Black Magic nitro Funny Car back in the early 70’s entertained us for an hour with his stories.
