2018 Shakedown at the Summit Photo Review

Hundreds of North America’s top doorslammers invaded Summit Motorsports Park for the 16th annual Shakedown at the Summit to lay their claim on a portion of the $165,000 purse, with the winner of the pro-mod category taking a $40,000 share. The track was set on kill, and the performances matched it all weekend. The story in photos by Dave Oakes.

“Super Dave” Adkins singled for the Radial Vs. World crown in his twin turbo 63 Impala.

This run by Jeff Miller was doomed. The door flew open, the car caught fire at the top end.

Ronnie Proctor put together a series of consistent runs to take the top sportsman title.

Ken Quartuccio’s 3.86 outran Mo Hall’s 3.95 in the Outlaw 10.5 final.

Ontario Canada’s Louis Oulmette let top sportsman qualifying with 6.31 – 223.62 blast.

Mark Woodford was low qualifier in Radial Vs. World with a 3.82 – 209.04.

Melanie Salemi took home the $40,000 pro-mod winner’s purse.

Dave Norris took his brand new Corvette to the final, but was shut off for a leak.

Carl Stevens Jr. won the $5000 “money shot” with a 5.63, but crashed in eliminations.

Mo Hall nearly put it on the back bumper during qualifying.
