Coming up Monday, October 29th, 2018 on DragList LIVE for JB’s Pick as Racer of the Week, I will present the story of the Islander and the Beach Bandit ’71 Camaro Funny Car, which ran for around 11 years between ’71 and ’82 here in Texas, Mexico and surrounding states. Originally a Mike Burkhart car, it belonged to and was raced by our regional drag racing and hot rodding hero Billy Bunch, then sold to my relatives Pat Doherty and the great driver Nick Canton, and was campaigned for another half-decade before it was sold to a track owner in Louisiana. It’s a special, heart-warming story, and I’m looking forward to featuring this amazing car and these wonderful people on the October 29th show!
