Darwin’s Last York Hurrah on Fathers Day Weekend

The York airport former site of York US30 Dragway has provided their main hangar and some other facilities to NNDRA for a Tribute to York US30 Dragway on Father’s Day weekend June 15-16th. This will be my last hurrah as far as coordinating anymore events. I will turn 86 on the 16th of this month and I have to be a realist, I can’t continue forever. I will stay active on the internet with NNDRA and attend some events. This year marks 40 years since York ceased operations so the Tribute is certainly noteworthy.

We will have Larry Lombardo, George Nye, and a host of others, w/York displays along with legendary race cars, and an NNDRA booth, a group of York US30 Dragway photo displays, and some surprise guests, a York US30 Heritage Days booth, memorabilia and noteworthy York US30 items including an original Christmas tree from the track. It will be a reunion for many of those who raced at this world renowned facility. An event flier is being prepared and should be available in a week to ten days. Announcements to the media are forthcoming as well. Come join us and relive the memories that made York an industry name to the drag racing community. It happens one time and you can be a part of it. The event schedule is Saturday, June 15th 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 16th 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Periodic news releases will follow.
