There is a saying in Ohio, “Just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change.” In two years, the PDRA has experienced monsoon like rains and for this year’s Inaugural Northern Nationals at Dragway 42, near record temperatures. Despite the heat, performances did not suffer and there were no on track issues. A beautiful event. Here are some highlights through photos by Dave Oakes.
In a Ford vs. Chevy XPS final, John Montecalvo’s Camaro defeated Elijah Morton’s Mustang.
Tommy Franklin’s 3.73 was low qualifier in Pro Nitrous – He took the final with a 3.69 over Jim Halsey’s 3.73.
Walter Lanningan’s ’54 Corvette took home the Pro Outlaw 632 crown.
Kyle Harris’ hard launching altered ran in Top Dragster.
In another Chevy vs. Ford final, Glenn Butcher prevailed in Elite Top Sportsman with a 4.09 – 178.36.
Robert Pickens’ Kidzilla 5 went out early via a redlight.
Kris Thorne ran the table in Pro Boost. He qualified #1 with a 3.73 and beat Kevin Rivenbark’s 3.71 in the final.
