GLENDORA, Calif. – Tickets are now on sale for the 40th annual Southern Nationals, Aug. 28-30 at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga. The event, previously canceled earlier this year, was returned to the 2020 schedule earlier this month.
The prestigious event, an NHRA mainstay since 1981, promises to deliver all the intense racing action fans in the region have come to expect from the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
Along with 11,000 horsepower Top Fuel and Funny Cars racing down the track, fans will witness the wild action of the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by J&A Service, the high-tech modern machines of the SAMTech.edu NHRA Factory Stock Showdown, and the high-powered Mountain Motor Pro Stock class.
Steve Torrence (Top Fuel) and Ron Capps (Funny Car) will be among those defending the race titles they won in 2019.
The revised Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule condenses events to two-day competition schedules for the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series classes due to economic and logistical factors. This will entail one day of qualifications (two rounds) on Saturday and Final Eliminations on Sunday. Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series classes will begin racing on Friday.
