Gary and Barbara Brown have been big parts of the Draglist.com family. They covered West Coast action for us for several years. We had dozens of great phone conversations and some good times when I was able to visit Bakersfield for either the March Meet or the California Hot Rod Reunion. Farewell to my old pal and thanks for taking us along to the drags all these years. Our condolences to Barbara, Gary’s family, and all his friends, including fellow great guy and drag photographer Bob Brown (no relation). Bob shares these great shots of Gary doing what he did best. Bill

I received a phone call this afternoon from the son of Gary & Barbara Brown. It was the kind of call you don’t like to get… he called to tell me that Gary passed away about a week ago from pancreatic cancer. Gary was a longtime photographer at Famoso up until a year or so ago and also did a lot of work with the U.S. Forest Service… I’m sure you’ll remember him. Here are a few pics from my files from happier times. Rest in peace, Gary. By the way, just a coincidence on our similar last names.
