In another sign that the world is getting back to normal, Bandimere Speedway in Denver was able to run their Night of Fire and Thunder event on 5/22 with no spectator restrictions. They booked in an 8-car nitro fuel altered program and 4 jet cars and had a very good crowd. Unfortunately, we could only get the first round of fuel altered off before it rained out the 2nd run. It was really cool to see Johnny West and his new car running well, along with Jim Maroney in Jim Broome’s Speed Sport car being run in memory of Red Greth. I really laid down a pass and had low ET/Top Speed with a 5.83 @ 240. The next closest was Maroney at 6.09. Here are a couple of videos of my car and the qualifying list from the one run we got. This was our first ever run with wings on the car (only the 5th ever run in altered configuration and the first-ever full pull), and we didn’t put quite enough front wing in it. The steering was light/vague, and the car moved around quite a bit, making for an entertaining onboard video.
