After 23 long months, the 44th version of the Kelly Night Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park was held in front of a sellout crowd of 40,000. Night Under Fire isn’t only a drag race; it is an event. It is entertainment and a celebration of our union. Only an untimely power outage could dampen some of the enthusiasm. That is until the fireworks started. These pictures from Dave Oakes TRY to capture some of the aura of Night Under Fire.
The opening ceremonies include the presentation of this 60×90 flag for our National Anthem.

By far, the favorite of the crowd was 16x champ John Force.
Antron Brown laid down the quickest TF run @ 3.77.
Meanwhile, Brittany Force had the fastest pass with a 3.80-328.06 lap.
Craig Sullivan’s gorgeous ’49 Mercury had a 3.74/202.67 best (eighth-mile).
John Force was the top qualifier for the funny cars @ 3.95-325.
Dave Vantine ran a stout 5.96-218.96 in top fuel Harley.
Chris Darnell blasts down the quarter-mile in Shockwave.
A malfunction caused a massive fire at the rear of Bob Motz’s jet Kenworth.
When the lights went out, it was time for the $120,000 fireworks display.
