TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR FINAL MOPAR EXPRESS LANE NHRA SPRINGNATIONALS PRESENTED BY PENNZOIL AT HOUSTON RACEWAY PARK
GLENDORA, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2021) – Tickets are now on sale for the Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil, which takes place April 22-24 during the 2022 NHRA season and will mark the final NHRA national event at Houston Raceway Park.
As the rich history of drag racing history comes to a close at the historic track, Houston Raceway Park invites racegoers to be part of a memorable experience at the 35th and final NHRA SpringNationals.
“Next year’s Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil at Houston Raceway Park is the culmination of more than three decades of spectacular racing at this storied facility,” said Seth Angel, Houston Raceway Park Track Operator. “The 35th and final race will be a memorable celebration of the rich and prominent drag racing history that has taken place at Houston Raceway Park, and will surely be an event fans won’t want to miss.”
The Mopar Express Lane NHRA SpringNationals presented by Pennzoil has long been the largest annual sporting event in Southeast Texas and will feature professional drag racing in all four professional categories in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series. That includes the thrilling 11,000-horsepower nitro cars in Top Fuel and Funny Car, as well as the skilled drivers in Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle, and a number of classes in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.
Steve Torrence (Top Fuel), Robert Hight (Funny Car) and Matt Hartford (Pro Stock) are reigning winners of the SpringNationals. John Force has seven wins at the track, the most in NHRA history, while standouts Ron Capps, Robert Hight and Angelle Sampey all have four victories in Houston.
Renowned for its sea-level location and reputation as one of the fastest tracks on the NHRA circuit, Houston Raceway Park hosted its first national event in 1988 and has played host to a number of memorable moments over the past three-plus decades, including Eddie Hill making the NHRA’s first four-second run in 1988, Michael Phillips becoming the first African-American to win in a Pro category in 1997, Force earning his 100th career win in 2002 and many more.
Racers will now have one last chance to make history at the track, starting with one qualifying run on Friday, a pair of qualifying sessions on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday, as the stars of the sport will look to collect the coveted and final NHRA Wally trophies awarded at Houston Raceway Park.
All children 12 and under will be admitted free in the general admission area with a paid adult.
