Photo Review: 2022 World Series of Pulling

Draglist photo contributor Dave Oakes was honored to be one of just a couple of drag racing photographers invited to cover the Inaugural World Series of Pulling Presented by Ohio Cat at Summit Motorsports Park. While not the domain of Draglist, there are a few similarities between drag racing and pulling. These photos by Dave try to point those out.

Yes, this is Summit Motorsports Park after sand and 80 truckloads of clay were put down to create the pulling surface.

The Mini Rod class is similar to an altered. A blown alcohol motor in a 96” wheelbase.

This is drag racing legend Ken Veney in his mini rod. He finished 2nd both nights.

The Shelton Family of PDRA pro mod fame have several pulling vehicles. This is Ruckus.

Galot Motorsports also competes in both. This is John Strickland in an Unlimited Super Stock.

The mini rod class can be pretty wild. This is Have No Mercy, all out of shape.

The 4-wheel drive truck class uses mountain motor pro stock type engines. This is class winner Jim Bosch

The Unlimited Super Stock class runners can use up to 4 turbos. Here is one that didn’t survive.

The big Super Modifieds run 3 or 4 pro mod-type motors connected together. Dirtslinger won Thursday night

The pullers in 2 wheel drive truck use altered wheelbases and light front ends to transfer weight better.
