2022 MWDRS at US 131 Martin

The Summit Racing Equipment Midwest Drag Racing Series returned to western Michigan last weekend under glorious early September skies as part of the US 131 Motorsports Park Honor Credit Union Funny Car Nationals. A mix of 1st-time finalists and winners, as well as a couple of usual visitors, highlighted this excellent event. Here are some photo highlights by Dave Oakes

Preston Tanner took home his first MWDRS event win in Stroud Safety Pro Mod with a red light win.

Glen Butcher’s killer Camaro qualified #1 in Pro Sportsman with a 3.93/158.34 blast.

Annie Strasberg was at the head of the Top Dragster qualifying sheet at 3.69/198.24 but didn’t make the final.

Michael Chitty took home the Pro Sportsman title over Maximus Butcher with a 4.31 to Butcher’s 4.96.

Chris Marshall gained ground in the season championship standings in BB/FC by taking the event win and qualifying #1.

Maximus Butcher (Glen’s son) made it to his first final in Pro Sportsman but was on the short end to Michael Chitty.

Check out the flames on Cory Smith’s nitrous Pro Mod. I can’t recall ever seeing this before.

Annie Whiteley made it to the final in BB/FC but lost to Marshall via the red light.

This sportsman Corvette was on the bumper every pass.

Tanner was also the #1 qualifier in Pro Mod but got completely sideways on this qualifying burnout.

Pro Mod points leader Dustin Nesloney handed the event win to Tanner with a redlight in the final.
