ROOFTEC NHRA COMPETITION ELIMINATOR CASH CLASH COMING TO INDY, NEW SPECIAL BONUS AWARD ALSO ADDED
INDIANAPOLIS (March 3, 2023) – NHRA and Rooftec, owned by veteran NHRA sportsman and Pro Stock competitor Rodger Brogdon, have partnered for a unique bonus program set to take place at the prestigious Dodge Power Brokers NHRA U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
The Rooftec NHRA Competition Eliminator Cash Clash will be a specialty race at the Big Go where the top 16 drivers from the Rooftec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund face off for a total purse of $50,000. The winner of the specialty event will earn $30,000 and the Rooftec NHRA Competition Eliminator Cash Clash will also be featured in a special 30-minute broadcast airing after the U.S. Nationals.
The specialty race is all part of Brogdon’s vision to help create a bigger spotlight for the category, going along the new Rooftec NHRA Competition Class Bonus Award that will debut in 2023 and the popular Rooftec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund.
“There’s no bigger show than Indy. It’s the biggest show of the year and to have something like this at Indy is going to be great,” Brogdon said. We’ve had great support for this special event and I’m just excited to be in the position to help keep the class going and get it the attention it deserves. I just love the creativity involved in the class. There’s so many great racers and so many cool cars and I’m excited that everyone is going to get more exposure through programs like this.”
The new Rooftec NHRA Competition Class Bonus Award will debut at the NHRA U.S. Nationals and Texas NHRA FallNationals in Dallas, awarding the winning driver at each race an $11,500 in addition to the national event purse.
These programs are in addition to the highly-successful Rooftec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund in Division 4 that Brogdon started in recent years that awards the top 10 finishers in the category.
“With the Rooftec NHRA Competition Class Bonus Award at Indy and Dallas, I wanted to do something everyone could race for,” Brogdon said. “Last year, every race from our points system was won by a different racer, so the competition was incredible. The champion wasn’t decided until the last round of the last race and we’ve really seen growth in the class, which is a great sign. We’ve been able to grow and we’re looking forward to 2023.”
Adam Hickey claimed the Rooftec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund in Division 4 in 2022, securing the title with his victory at the Texas NHRA FallNationals. At the first race of the Division 4 season in 2023, 28 competitors raced at No Problem Raceway, with six of the 10 top point earners living in other divisions. Some traveled as far as California and Washington to throw their hat into the Rooftec Comp Eliminator Bonus Fund in Division 4.
“It’s exciting to see the standout racers in Competition Eliminator have the opportunity to race for these bonuses and on such a huge platform. Rooftec and Rodger Brogdon have done a great job creating these new programs for the class and the results have been incredible,” NHRA Director of Advertising/Sponsorship Sales Jeff Morton said. “I know we’re all really looking forward to the Cash Class in Indy and the Bonus Award at both Indy and Dallas as well.”
