Marble Falls, TX., June 7th, 2024: Time to feel the thunder.
So, the tradition of 100 degree temperatures continues for this weekend despite whatever month the race actually takes place, weird.
The Southern Drag Boat Association(SDBA) kicks off its 2024 season with the long-standing Lakefest event held on Lake Marble Falls’ “liquid quarter mile.”
The race week began with boats showing up from around the country and setting up in the pit area parking lot. Friday was the usual ‘Show-n-Shine’ held in the pits, giving drivers the opportunity to show off their rides. It also gives the fans a chance to get up close, take pictures, and meet the drivers, plus a throttle whack or two to break the night’s silence. Show-n-Shine was followed by a concert in Johnson Park by LC Rocks.
Qualifying begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and concludes around 5:00 p.m. Eliminations are Sunday, again beginning at 9:00 a.m., with all the final rounds run at the end, highlighted by the Top Fuel finale.
