Historic 1,000th round win in sight for Greg Anderson right where he claimed first win
BRISTOL, Tenn. (June 7, 2025) —The possibility of exceptional symmetry is enticing to those who love tidy numbers, a good story, and plenty of horsepower as raceday in Bristol sits on the horizon. Reigning and six-time Pro Stock world champion Greg Anderson will have the opportunity to reach another milestone at the 24th annual Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals as he powers toward the 1,000th round win of his career and a 110th victory on the very grounds where he earned his first.
Heading into Sunday at Bristol Dragway and qualified in the No. 2 position, Anderson is currently in possession of 997 round wins, only three away from 1,000 – a massive number so far only reached by Funny Car legend John Force.
“That’s a huge number,” said Anderson, who will race Kenny Delco in round one. “I never, not in a million years, would have thought or dreamt that would be a possibility for me. I’ve gone so far beyond my wildest dreams. Every day that I come to a race and still have a chance to win rounds, that’s a big-time bonus for me. It’s just way more than I ever could have asked for. I’m very fortunate.”
So far in 2025, Anderson has earned three wins in five final rounds, falling just twice and only to KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn. In what is transpiring to be another incredible season for the most winning Pro Stock driver in history, there has been just one race so far this year in which Anderson has not reached the final. Effective driving and a race car that is the class of the field has made for a killer combination, allowing the 109-time victor to wheel his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to win light after win light.
“This racecar is the best I’ve ever had in my life,” said Anderson. “There is zero question about that, and it’s certainly paid itself off, won a lot of races, and made a lot of high-quality runs. It’s made me look like a star. We’ve talked about building a new car, but hell no. Not a chance. As long as I’m driving, I’m going to be in this racecar.”
The accumulation of round wins has accelerated over the course of 24 years since Anderson claimed his first Pro Stock trophy at Bristol Dragway. Season after season, he’s stacked the wins, and it all started right there in the mountains of Tennessee.
“This racetrack is very special to me,” said Anderson. “It’s been good to me before, and I’m in a great position right now to have a very good Sunday here with my HendrickCars.com car. There’s a milestone or two within reach, and to be able to get it done here at Bristol Dragway would be outstanding.”
Eliminations for the 24th annual Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals are set to begin at 12noon ET on Sunday at Bristol Dragway.
