March 03, 2003 - Pete Millar passes.
We are sad to report that our friend Pete Millar passed away on Friday, February 28, 2003. Pete was a drag racer of note in the mid '60s and early '70s, but his major contribution to the sport was his excellent Drag Racing cartoons. Pete's cartoons were a riot. He skewered the pompous and made drag racers laugh at themselves.
Personally, I had known Pete for just a short while. I met him at my first California Hot Rod Reunion a few years ago. Within minutes, it was as if we had known each other forever. Pete made sure to introduce me to all the racing stars as they came by his booth. He even asked me to sit in at his booth for a few minutes while he ran a few errands.
Pete Millar was a terrific gentleman and a person who had a profound impact on the sport of drag racing. My deepest condolences to Pete's family and to his numerous friends.
