YORK, PA – The largest one day drag racing event to ever be held was the 1965 Super Stock Nationals at York US 30 Dragway,York, PA and the largest assembly of Legends of Drag Racing to be held at one event at one time will be held in York, PA on July 11-12th at the York Fairgrounds, York, Expo Center as the 13th Annual Musclecar Madness at the York Reunion is presented.
The two day event is the first leg of a Giant Two Event Nostalgia Weekend which culminates with the running of the 11th Annual York Nostalgia Nationals at Beaver Springs Dragway, Beaver Springs, PA.
The show will present memoriams to three of the drag racing communities departed heros that were lost this year, Bud Faubel, Ross Gilbert, and Roger Sinistri. Special memorabilia will be on display with vehicles that each participated with in many events during their great careers.
Among the Legends to be in attendance will be Wally Booth, Wally Bell, Arnie Beswick, Miss Hurst Golden Shifter, Linda Vaughn, Butch Leal, Marv Ripes, Bruce Larson, Butch Leal, Bunny Burkett, Kenny Wallace, Jere Stahl, Bob Harrop, Larry Lombardo and the list goes on.
World famous race cars include the “Special Edition” top fueler of World Champion Jim Walther, World Champion Bruce Larson’s USA-1 Camaro, the Doug Thorley Javelin Funny car, Wally Booth’s AMX and Gremlin Pro Stocks,and a record breaking display of renowned Junior Stockers that will include Marv Ripes ’57 Chevy sedan and his ’57 Corvette, the newly completed Yoo Hoo Too entry of Dan and Wayne Jesel ’56 Chevy Sedan Delivery, plus many more. The junior stock reunion is a first for the Racers who were the backbone of drag racing.
The show will feature a Salute to GM and Legion of Honor presentations to 14 most deserving recipients for their many contributions to the heritage of the sport.
Special tours will be running from the show to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing in York Springs, PA both days.
The show benefits the York County SPCA and the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing.
Show hours are Friday, July 11th 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 12th 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. with action shifting to Beaver Springs Dragway for Sunday, July 13th for the presentation of the Annual York Nostalgia Nationals. Activities commence at 8 a.m.
