Speedway Children’s Charities Sonoma Brings Nitro Night to Sonoma Raceway for First Time Ever! Drag racing fans supporting local non-profits that help kids in need
SONOMA, Calif. (July 13, 2023) – Speedway Children’s Charities Sonoma invites race fans, campers and the community to celebrate the 15th Annual Eric Medlen Nitro Night presented by Phillips Connect, kicking off DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals weekend July 28-30. For the first time ever, the event will be held onsite at Sonoma Raceway and promises an evening of high-octane fun and charitable giving.
This special event will be held Thursday, July 27 at the spectacular Turn 11 hospitality venue. Guests will enjoy drinks and dinner, a raffle and live auction, and celebration of the legacy of the late Eric Medlen, a promising young NHRA drag racer fondly remembered by all who knew him. The evening will be hosted by FOX announcer Brian Lohnes, with appearances by NHRA stars Ron Capps, Antron Brown, Justin Ashley, Austin Prock and more.
“Our Sonoma NHRA race is always one of my favorites, but really excited to help celebrate Eric Medlen’s legacy and having our fans join us this year in the awesome new Turn 11 for the 15th annual Eric Medlen Nitro night!” said reigning and three-time Funny Car world champion and California native, Ron Capps.
Highlighting the live auction will be signed bottles of custom-blended, one-of-a-kind wines created by NHRA stars at Three Fat Guys winery in Sonoma.
While Nitro Night offers an unforgettable experience for all guests, those with a need for speed are also invited to participate in the NHRA Charity Karting Tournament at the track prior to the dinner. The tournament is open to participants 13-years-old and up, no prior experience necessary, and will conclude with a time trial featuring NHRA drivers Justin Ashley, Austin Prock, Chad Green and Angelle Sampey.
All proceeds from the 15th Annual Eric Medlen Nitro Night will benefit Speedway Children’s Charities Sonoma, the charitable arm of Sonoma Raceway. SCC Sonoma is dedicated to caring for children in critical need by providing grants to local non-profits that help them and their families live safe, productive lives. With their attendance, participants are making a significant impact on the lives of children and families in the Sonoma County community. Speedway Children’s Charities extends its heartfelt appreciation to all sponsors, donors, and supporters for their unwavering commitment to helping children thrive.
